From the “Women of Gaza” series by Tanya Habjouqa, born in Jordan and based in Jerusalem: “In another powerful portrait, a student wearing a niqab waits on a bench, holding a black bag with a small teddy bear hanging from it. By capturing these humanizing details of fully covered women, Habjouqa challenges her own resentment of the rise of the niqab.”
Unfortunately there were lots of reflections in almost all the pictures, which made them difficult to photograph, although non-flash photography was encouraged by the museum.
