Bizarre design

An unusual design for this gate.

More on the ongoing saga of my newspaper being taken over by the Turkish government and my job ending (sorry, but it is an all-consuming issue right now). I have been told, finally, by the editor-in-chief, who I guess hasn’t been fired, that it will be “business as usual” until further notice. So I’m not out of a job – yet. But honestly, I don’t know what kind of newspaper we can produce under the thumb of government-appointed trustees when our position was clearly in opposition before this…

There is widespread international news coverage on the takeover and condemnations worldwide for the Turkish government’s further trampling of human rights and basic freedoms and its attempt to silence the free press in the country. Here is the BBC lead story http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35735793 and our own website coverage is here http://www.todayszaman.com/national_turkish-police-raid-zaman-hqs-fire-tear-gas-on-readers-after-govt-takeover_414040.html written and photographed in the middle of the night.

It will be very difficult to publish the truth under such scrutiny. V

It does seem odd for the building in this culture.
Tough times in Turkey now. It seemed so different when I visited in 2007.

Perfect framing. A very attractive image in mostly neutral colors that look amazing together. ~BV~

elegant even if unusual - hard luck with the paper; one of my first impressions of Turkey was the 'faig-round trains' disgorging dozens riot police, not changed much in intervening 50 years

A fine capture of this great design.

Glad you weren't there at the paper, the video on our news was quite frightening.
