Place Jemaa el-Fna

Place Jemaa el-Fna is the symbol of Marrakech and has been called the nerve center of the city, particularly at night, when the enormous square is said to come alive with all sorts of performers and food vendors. Rostom, our driver, wanted us to visit there in the evening and was trying to arrange a horse-drawn carriage for us to get there, but the plans got miscommunicated so we just stayed in the riad for a quiet dinner. The next morning he realized it hadn’t been such a good idea after all because no way could Tim have gotten in or out of one of those carriages with his broken foot. I was in the square several times during the day, but not much was happening.
