The Karaouiyine Mosque was established in 859 and is one of the oldest and most illustrious mosques in the western Muslim world. It was also the first university to be founded in Morocco and still remains the seat of the Muslim university of Fes.
Tim can’t remember where he took this picture – at the mosque or at a medersa (religious school) we went to afterwards, but judging by the elaborate design, I’m betting on the mosque.
I have to work very late this evening (until at least 11 p.m.), so will try to comment in between editing articles if I can!
