Volubilis was settled and prospered under the Mauritanian kings, from the third century B.C. to 40 A.D., after which it was annexed by the Romans.
More of the ruins. I had taken a picture of this, too, but I like Tim’s perspective much better, and the clearer view of the capitals on the ground.
