The stork family

Volubilis was settled and prospered under the Mauritanian kings, from the third century B.C. to 40 A.D., after which it was annexed by the Romans. The ruins were outstanding, although both Tim and I were fascinated more by this stork family. It’s hard to see even in this cropped image, but the female stork is in the nest, presumably sitting on the eggs.

Some how seems appropriate that the storks have taken over the ruins of an ancient empire. Nature ultimately rules! Voted.

I do like to see storks. Interesting also that the pillars are brick with a stucco coating to make them look like solid stone.
