So I wonder if I’m getting desperate for things to photograph with elevators! But I thought these were quite striking, especially in a shopping mall, of all places. I did try to capture a group of people at another elevator upstairs because the contrasts were so extreme – one man in traditional Saudi dress, one in shorts and a T-shirt, and two women totally covered in a black abaya and all-encompassing headscarf. But taking it in low light, from behind the plants without being seen was just too difficult, and the result wasn’t usable. So this is my consolation prize.
