Modern and traditional

I don't know what this building is going to be, but it was the first thing I saw when we went to Diriyah around a month ago but couldn't stop to investigate as we were in a motor pool vehicle. I still think it's fascinating. The other side of it was a total construction site.

Another view of this building taken at a very different time of day and with a different camera:

Quite extraordinary - so modern and so old - neat how the glass gives the impression of space between the two. Very nicely captured V

Modern yet still has the styling of the older buildings. Kind of nice. V

Great image of this old meets new building. v

I don't actually find these two styles all that contradictory. They both have clean, geometric lines and the, admittedly minimal decoration on the new echoes that of the old. V

A very good comparison of the two buildings, Helen.BV

It is a curious combination of styles. I do like the triangular windows.

The juxtaposition of old and new is fascinating. It looks huge and one can only wonder what it will be when finished. V

It is more than fascinating, Helen. If I see it well, the new one was built over the old one. Such a creative way of thinking to cook up an idea like this. Past and future work so well together here. V
