In my first encounters with camels at the souk in Riyadh, and then again at the camel beauty pageant in Umm Ruqaiba, I thought they were just being very friendly when they all stuck their heads outside the fence in my direction, or maybe just looking for a handout. They are in fact very friendly and it turns out quite inquisitive – it’s my camera that fascinates them. I found that they’re very quick with that long neck and that if I didn’t watch out, I would end up with a nose on my lens.
