Day's end

I had been trying to photograph this unusual looking mosque from the highway but it was just too far away, so the driver took us by it. The door was the most magnificent part, but there were too many people around to manage that unobtrusively. However, I have always liked minarets, even when I was living in Turkey, and I thought this was an interesting one.

The palm fronds "make" the image. Without them the picture wouldn't have been nearly as successful.

That image just says, "middle east" to me. An iconic image of the minaret and palm fronds. V
