Pause that refreshes

There are many public fountains in Barcelona, and they seem to be very well used. I guess I surprised this woman, though ;-).

They have packed up my desktop computer (with my gigantic monitor!) so will be using this Macbook Pro for quite a long time to come. I have transferred all my images to it (wow, that sure took up a lot of space) so should have something to work on, even if I'm not able to take many pictures in Saudi Arabia.

Interesting candid of the water taker. She does look surprised! I'd recommend a Ricoh GR or Nikon A for your Saudi shots..... V

(This was a response to Frank but I'm posting it for everyone since people have been asking me what the story is with photography in Saudi Arabia.) Photography used to be prohibited by law in Saudi Arabia. The law was recently repealed in an effort to promote a very limited amount of tourism (tourists are also prohibited in the kingdom). The embassy urges extreme discretion and caution in trying to take pictures since it seems the police (probably the religious police, who are different and who protect morals) don't seem to have heard that it's no longer illegal. Even if a person does dare to take some photos, it's forbidden to photograph any person (even have them in the frame) without their express permission. One can also not photograph any government-owned building, which I have a feeling is the majority of buildings in Riyadh since the government is the very large royal family. Of course I can't survive without photography, so I'm currently researching some small but good quality cameras that I can hide under my abaya (which I'm required to wear in public) and use as unobtrusively as possible. So I hope to be able to post images from Saudi, but it sounds like it will take some doing!

Great candid - she does seem surprised. I try the occasional candid without even looking through the lens, you always crop and rotate afterwards from a wide angle shot.

This type of photo is an example of why I like my micro 43 cameras with their tilting or swiveling lcds. I can hold the camera(s) at my waist, take a picture and if I'm far enough away, no one is the wiser because the shutters aren't as loud as those on my dslrs.
