Spicer Ice Castle ~ January 15 [12]

Spicer, Minnesota

The 2008 Spicer Winterfest Ice Castle is finished. Each ice block weighs in at around 800 pounds, and 1000 blocks of ice were used in the construction. For a current webcam view of the ice castle visit the official website at http://www.spicermn.com/

The fireworks and lighting ceremony is scheduled for the evening of January 19th. As the high temps for the day are forecast to be somewhere around 5 below zero (-20.5 C) I may or may not photograph it... In the meantime my gallery of a previous ice castle lit at night can be found at http://www.pbase.com/harpeggio/spicer_ice_castle

good comp. Greg. Bitter cold tonight. I'm hoping to do a sunrise shoot in downtown Mpls along the river. I scoped out a good vantage point this afternoon and there should be steam rising on the water.

Love the blue tones, which I'm sure would match my skin tones if I were in there !!
