In a normal winter this view would be white as the landscape would be slumbering under at least a couple of feet of snow. This winter thus far has however been anything but normal. For the most part temperatures have been unseasonably warm as well. Without snow cover should the temperature drop into the 20s or more below zero (Fahrenheit) the frost line can go well below the normal depth resulting in frozen water mains and even some buildings heaving. Plus many of the small rodents make trails underneath the snow: This protects them from both predators and the cold. Without the snow...
