Six kids that I can see, most probably all their wordly possesions in this boat,
with the boat being, by far, the most expensive thing the family owns, living from
day to day catching fish on the river, yet, some of the most happy people I have
ever seen.
The picture has two pirogues in it, as seen by the two tan roofs. The red and blue
striped shirt is a sure sign of Unicef, and the size of the boat at least
shows signs of relative prosperity. It still astounds me though, just how happy these
people are. Good for them I say. We have definitely lost something here in the
western world.
Taken on the Niger River somewhere in between Mopti and Timbuktu, Mali.
