My new sandals, which I had to buy after my sneakers were stolen from one of the holiest Islamic
sites in the world, the Ummayad Mosque. Stolen from inside the mosque ...so much for holy. I didn't
want to walk around Damascus in bare feet for too long so I bought at the first shop I saw. ...so
much for the whole haggling theory. The owner knew I had no shoes and that they were stolen in the
mosque. Hmmm.
