A few of us had been observing the male Cooper's gathering twigs, high up in the trees the previous day. Presently, we spotted the female up very high, then lost sight of her. As we stood talking, she dove down to perch on the slanted tree trunk fairly close to us. She appeared to be concentrating and in hunting mode; thus permitting us to take several shots before she flew up high again.
