Top Image: A very spindly perch? Actually,..................


..............just a very long stick.

On several occasions, whilst Dad was out hunting, the female would leave the nest and the young and return a short time later with a stick to reinforce the sides of the nest. Some of these sticks were quite long as in the images above. Tomorrow I will post a sequence showing how she deposits the stick and places it along the sides of the nest as if constructing a railing.
