Two images of the Mother Owl. Yesterday I posted some images of Dad goofing off (sleeping) whilst on guard duty. Today its Mom's turn. Both Mom and Dad are perched up high in trees not far from the nest and in spite of their constant napping, they are aroused immediately as soon as enemies (e.g. crows, hawks and yes sometimes people) encroach on their turf.
Top image: Mom catching a bit of shut-eye.
Mom sleeping on the nest remains alert and keeps the young warm as it is quite cold out.
