Top Image: A Cicada Exoskeleton or skin. There is a hole at the top (back) through which the Cicada escaped. The image is rotated to horizontal for clarity and to match orientation of the image below.
We found a Chickadee tussling with this Cicada. The Chickadee had it by one of its wings which was damaged. When my Granddaughter approached it, the Chickadee flew off. The Cicada, which has one broken/damaged wing, is sitting on my son's hand. For the far-side wings you can see the outline of larger outer wing and of the smaller inner wing. On the near side, the inner wing is mostly broken off. That's probably where the Chickadee had grabbed it.
