THE POLE WRECKER!

Four images of The male Pileated Woodpecker having a go at our hydro pole. He has been doing quite a number on it. Luckily I haven't seen/heard him for several days now so perhaps that transformer up there will stay put a while longer. He may have decided that there isn't much value in attacking a dead hydro pole. Then again, perhaps he is looking for a place to nest next year, near a ready source of food (my feeders). Actually, I think he is looking for seeds hidden in the cracks of the pole by Nuthatches, Hairy WP's and Downy WP's.
