I've been trying to get some good shots of a Kingfisher for several years. I got a few shots before, but all taken at considerable distance. Presently, I was standing on a boardwalk at the middle pond of three ponds, just watching to see what was around when a friend called me on my cell to tell me that there was a Kingfisher at the first pond where he was located. No sooner had he spoken those words and low and behold, a Kingfisher flew in and perched about 20 meters (60 feet) right in front of me. I practically dropped the phone, told my friend that I had my own Kingfisher and that I had to hang up. I got a number of good shots , including some with the Kingfisher bringing up a small fish after diving-bombing it from its perch.
