In this series, a lonely male Hooded Merganser courts a beautiful young Goldeneye "CHICK" as there were no female Hoodies around.

On several occasions, he seems to have persuaded the lady, but alas...................

"Hi Girls! Wanna play?"......... And so the quest goes on.


Hoodie never did get past first base with the Golden gals, but then I watched for only an hour and a half. So who knows, maybe we'll soon find some peculiar looking cross-overs (hybrids) swimming amongst the Goldeneyes on The Rideau River. I'll keep you posted.
