Based on a comment on the previous tulip picture, I went back to the drawing board and filled background with black and used Sumi-e to reduce the noise. I now remember why the background was so grainy. I used a black cloth behind the flowers, but it was relatively thin and allowed light to filter through that gave a VERY grainy quality to the background. At least, that is what I remember.--Rene
