Poke milkweed is a shade tolerant native milkweed so I thought I'd try planting it in this area by the neighbor's fence to replace weeds with something useful. I sheet mulched with a few layers of builder's paper and then put a 50/50 mix of top soil and compost over that. I wasn't able to find any plants so I got some seed from Prairie Moon Nursery. I also planted some seeds in a few other shady areas of the yard.
