Lived on the Oregon coast for about 15 years and have observed a few bandtails in the past. This year we have hundreds that visit daily mid morning and late afternoon. We put out food for them and they will clean up 4/5 pounds in as many minutes. One flock seems to leave and another arrives from a different direction. Noticed one bird several times on different days for the past two weeks ( I am sure the same one) which carries a red and white band on its left leg. They are fun to watch. Jays seem to coexist with them and the other birds seem to use the feeding areas the rest of the day..
