HAYNES DESCRIPTION:
The name Capri was first used for the coupe version of the Ford Classic introduced in 1967. The début of Ford's new sports saloon which adapted this name in 1969, took place in Bonn. The influence of the American Mustang was obvious immediately this Capri was seen. Its sporting looks were and instant success and endured a long lifespan of some 17 years. The 205BHP Tickford specials are notoriously inaccurate, it is thought almost 2 million Capri's were built in Europe.
