HAYNES DESCRIPTION:
With the introduction of the DS in 1955, Citroen again demonstrated its commitment to advance motoring technology. It broke new ground with its base unit construction, which consisted of a steel inner skeleton onto which unstressed outer panels were bolted. The DS was also the worlds first production car to have front wheel disc brakes fitted as standard. In 1967 it pioneered headlights that turned when the front wheel turned to light the road on bends and, in 1969, it became the first production car to have Electronic Fuel Injection fitted as standard.
