HAYNES DESCRIPTION:

In 1960 the Ford Motor Company LTD of Daganem made a significant breakthrough at the lower end of the range with the introduction of the new Anglia.
The old side valve engine was discontinued in this model and a 997cc, overhead valve took its place, giving greatly improved performance.
To avoid confusion with the old model, Ford re-named the side valve power 'Anglia' as the Popular.
The new model was much more in keeping with the modern styling and perhaps is best remembered for its for its very distinctive backward sloping rear window.
