HAYNES INSCRIPTION:
The Vanden Plas model launched at the 1963 London motor show a year after the 1100 (in Morris form) had been introduced.
Apart the radiator grille and a wood and leather interior the car does not differ a great deal from the standard 1100 model.
However the luxury items such at the picnic tables in the back were fitted as standard.
For the first three years of production, the whole car was built and trimmed at Longbridge.
After that the cars went to the Vanden Plas Factory at Kingsbury to be fitted out.
In 1967 the 1275 engine was offered as an option, in common with the MG, Riley and Wolesey versions.
With little change the Princess continued production until 1974, when it was replaced by the Allegro based 1500.
