The American Bittern's call is a deep pumping "oong-ka-choonk" which I could clearly heard even when the bird was out of sight hidden among the reeds and tall grasses at Constance Creek.

There is a halo around the subject due to the use of the Shadow/Highlight feature in Photoshop.
