I believe this was the pellet expelled by the Hawk Owl on the weekend. The pellet is about 2 inches across. I saw it then but did not photograph it. Went back later and it was still there on the snow right under the tree. The Hawk Owl gave plenty of warning before it expelled the pellet by constantly opening and closing its beak. Unfortunately, I was changing lenses (from a 70-200 to a 100-400 for more reach) at the time.
