The winter following a big irruption year may find a few owls moving southward. This was true in winter 2005-2006 and the same appears to be the case for winter 2013-2014. This cooperative owl was perched only about 4 feet off the ground giving everyone great views.
On January 1st, a great gray owl was reported at Lemoine Point in Kingston. Today another great gray owl was reported in Brooklin which is at the north end of Whitby, Ontario.
The photo above at 15786 Loyalist Parkway (hwy 33) in a field with a sign that says "Fields On West Lake". Perched only 4 feet off ground near road. Many people were there.
