After the crows

Two barred owls rest on a perch after fighting off some crows. Moments after this photo was taken, the owl on the left walked over to the other owl and gently nudged its bill on the owl's head. Some sort of owl communications. They did the same thing the other day while both were grooming after the rain.

What a show the owls and the crows put on. I was just standing there under the canopy taking it all in. Wonderful experience. A couple of times one of the crows was perched only about 10 feet from the baby owlet. But it did not go after the owlet because one of the adult owls was perched nearby.

The whole time the owlet was awake, it was making begging sounds. Unfortunately, it was still sunny out so the parents were not about to go get it some food. The parents did go after the persistent crows. Junior was still begging...what a set of lungs on the little owlet...so I guess crow was not on the dinner list yet. Until the sun sets.
