This barred owl is quite cooperative and not shy at all. This is not Amherst Island but it might as well be with similar species of owls. Birders saw it with a saw-whet owl between its talons the other day. On sunday, I photographed it at a couple of spots. The weather was fantastic with plenty of sunshine and quite mild especially for a february day. Saw-whet owls and a great-horned owl are at the same location. This winter there have been many owls around but not enough time to go see many of them, unfortunately.
