Insects gravitate toward perches that help them blend into their surroundings. There were a number of birds feeding in the area and this grasshopper felt safe blended into the camouflage on my tripod.

This grasshopper stayed on my tripod leg for the longest time working itself up toward me. It got to where I could peer right down on it, a large bug when it's that close to you. Only noticed it perched there as I went to grab the tripod leg.
