I remember merely that he was really expensive. He is not aiming toward making tourist mementos, he believes in a unique value of his art. Use your imagination... He does however sell in his shop a lot of art artifacts made by others.
My personal impression was that he has the tendency to almost look down at visitors, who are not really art connoisseurs. For example, we have mentioned that we found a hint about his gallery in a book. However this was a travelers book about Tahiti, and not an art book. He made a strange gesture and his body language expressed a disapproval.
