Elephant Rock, Valley of Fire SP, Nevada

you would think Nevada's red rock country would inevitably be dry, yet in January damp days are also possible...unperturbed by the scale of this pachydermal formation, Sam sizes up a shot

An intriguing rock formation, with some incredible signs of erosion. I wonder what is hiding in all those small holes...Voted.

Fantastical shapes and colors (excluding Sam). Looks like it is about to come apart but will probably last a few more million years.V

Fantastic color. The red colors really stand out with the dark sky. Sam adds a great sense of scale. Excellent perspective too. V

Nice capture of Elephant Rock from this perspective. Again, I appear to be a blight on the landscape but take some solace in knowing that I provide a sense of scale. ;-)

I fully concur with Walter and would add that this image was composed beautifully and the textures and forms of the rock are conveyed masterfully. VVV

Great angle on it and including Sam to show the scale of our elephant was a very good idea.
