not sure which of us was more startled at this sudden encounter...the typically shy heron was in the act of snapping a fish from the pond as I came by, quickly swallowed it, then immediately coiled up for takeoff, and was airborne in a heartbeat, croaking it's discontent as it flew away to a quieter spot undisturbed by a prowling pbaser
Great Blue Herons are among numerous birds that live in this peaceful park
