ravine

Bisti Badlands, New Mexico

almost every Bisti photo features cool close-ups of hoodoos or bizarre rock formations...trekking about the area reveals that you often arrive at these rock and clay clusters in a ravine, and then must scramble up precipitous slopes for a closer look...caprocks on the hoodoos are evident enough, with various sediment strata beneath....the darker layers are a strain of coal...assessing the scene and moment is Dan, with two SLRs and two compacts, ready for anything

I like this picture of me since I am a small part of it and the scenery a much bigger part. In truth I only had one DSLR and 2 compacts and one extra lens for the DSLR. I used all of it too. Nice shot, David. ~V~

Great capture of a photographer at work in an exotic setting. I can't even imagine lugging around that much gear, but it obviously serves Dan very well. V.
