although the eastern side of Colorado is principally grasslands, the most spectacular feature of the state is it's extensive mountains...Rocky Mountain National Park contains 60 peaks over 12,000 ft (3700m)...in this view, beyond the layer of grasses are aspen trees, and past them ponderosa pines, common in this drier, eastern side of the park....just visible behind is the park's highest mountain, Longs Peak, which rises to 14,259 ft (4346m)
