landslide

extremes of weather cause crumbling of the rock in the mountains near Lillooet...sometimes it all comes down in a landslide...but almost immediately new life takes root in the unstable surface

I recall an abundance of similar landslip fans in the mountains of New Zealand.

I noticed this shot on my first trip through the gallery and thought it was a really nice composition. I was paying attention to the interesting cone shape that the lose rocks had made and didn't see the train tracks. I see them now and I think I see a bit of the lovely colored water in the lower left corner. It's hard to believe they can keep that track clear. Have you taken the train through here? Great image! V

I like this - I certainly wouldn't crop crop the sky off, it makes you appreciate the scale of the landslide against the mountain to my mind.

I really like this shot. But I think you've got another one hiding in there too! Consider simplifying it by cutting off the sky and also cropping up just beyond that big tree to the bottom left. Just an idea...

I like this view of the persistence of life, here breaking out on the skirts of this slide. Maybe my favorite image from this gallery. V

The sense of vertigo is complete. And it's a very excellent composition, David. gmv

Very interesting, these nature surprises. The surface is about to become stable with all these roots growing into it. That's how the Earth's relief is changing. V

An unusual view put into perspective by the railroad track and utility pole. Amazing that the trees can root on such a surface and such a steep angle. Nice vivid and sharp image. I enjoyed looking at this for a while. "V"

Nature knows how to do it, nice geometry the crumbling made. Great image!
