Sandplain gecko, Lucasium stenodactylum

Jabiru NT

The closest relative to the Yellow-snouted gecko and probably mutually exclusive, Lucasium stenodactylum lives on the
lateritic soils in Kakadu. The small nodules of laterite in concert with burnt grass tussocks make kneeling on the ground to
obtain a photograph of one of these animals far more painful than finding it in the first place.
