Tasmanian Bluetongue, Tiliqua nigrolutea

South Hobart, Tasmania.

I really like Bluetongues- they have incredibly serious looks on their faces as if they would not have a sense of humour at all, but I
am sure that in their own lizardy way that they do. They are primarily vegetarian but also feed on very slow invertebrates, like snails,
which move only slightly faster than vegetables. Bluetongues themselves aren't the fastest creatures off the block, and their liking for
long grass and warm roads is often their undoing- lawnmowers in the first instance and cars in the second.
