The group of skinks presently referred to as Cunningham's skinks come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and doubtlessly species,
and live in a corresponding variety of habitats through south-eastern mainland Australia (except Tasmania). This was found taking
shelter in my downspout at home. These lizards are omnivorous, feeding on grasshoppers, beetles and other invertebrates as well
as a variety of plant material. They form loose colonies comprising adults, subadults and juveniles, and defend their territories
against strangers.
These lizards bite hard and don't necessarily let go in a hurry. As a six year old I had one hanging off my finger (having bitten
through my fingernail and flesh down to the bone) for two hours while my frantic parents struggled to prise it off and I yelled
"Don't hurt it!!" through my tears. I was a strange child..
