Rainbow Lorikeet

Bradley's Head, Sydney Harbour, Australia

I don't normally photograph birds, especially with a 60mm Macro lens, but this bird mysteriously presented itself at Bradley's
Head National Park on Sydney Harbour. Rainbow Lorikeets are fast-flying, social birds with remarkable tongues covered with
small flaps that can be erected at will, turning their tongue into a brush for lapping nectar from flowers. Like most Australian
Parrots, they nest in tree hollows.
