Spider orchid

Yengo National Park, NSW Australia

It is a greenhood orchid, really. I found this little guy waiting hopefully for little passersby while I was in a gully waiting for it to
get dark enough to look for possums and owls- which was my real job at the time.

Note the hole in the base of the flower probably caused by a European honeybee chewing through to get the nectar, thus robbing
the orchid of pollination opportunities provided by the native insects.
