Saltuarius wyberba

Girraween National Park

The Australian leaf-tailed geckos are superficially similar enough that for a long time there were thought to be only two species.
Recent research has found many more so-called "cryptic species" including this spectacular lizard from the granite hills of the dry
border areas of Queensland and New South Wales. This animal was photographed on a rock face at night in Girraween National Park.
