Giant Cave Gecko, Pseudothecadactylus lindneri

Mount Howslip region, Arnhem Land, NT, Australia

This spectacular lizard inhabits the outcrops and gorges of the heavilly dissected sandstone plateaux of Kakadu and West Arnhem
Land. This animal was photographed in Western Arnhem Land during a fauna survey of the monsoon vine forests. While many gecko
species have sticky toes (Van der waals forces are used), this gecko also has a sticky pad beneath the tip of its tail. They feed on
invertebrates and smaller geckos.
