This cute little mouse-like rodent was a very significant find when it was trapped during a survey in 1999. It was also the skinkiest little
mammal I have ever caught, much to the chagrin of the staff of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Office in Mackay, where it was housed
over the weekend. Fortunately, it's cuteness almost made up for its stinkiness.
This is a critically endangered species threatened by climate change, sea-level rise, loss of habitat, pollution, and the fact that humans,
for the most part, don't really care about those we share our planet with.
