Prickly Gecko, Heteronotia binoei

Kakadu National Park, Australia

One of the most abundant and widespread species of lizard in Australia (as presently described- this is definitely a complex of
species) Prickly geckos are found over most of mainland Australia with the exception of the far south and east of the continent.

Some populations are parthenogenetic, having decided that males are for the most part at least, biologically obsolescent.
